Mission
The Airway Study and Training Center program is designed for intensive lecture and hands-on training tailored to the needs of each participant. Individualization will apply to discussions, theory, and practice sessions.
Training Overview
The Airway Study and Training Center (ASTC), founded by Dr. Andranik Ovassapian in 1998, trains anesthesiologists, other physicians, CRNAs, respiratory therapists, anesthesia technicians, and paramedics. Several simulators are used, including AirMan, SimMan, and Virtual Bronchoscopy. The ASTC also has an extensive inventory of airway equipment and various multimedia tools to assist in education.
Goals
- To create an environment for organized teaching and training in airway management.
- To offer individualized intensive training for physicians, CRNAs, and other health care professionals engaged in airway management.
- To emphasize cognitive knowledge, analysis of information, judgment, and the technical skills that are crucial for safe airway management.
- To improve airway management inside and outside the institution by encouraging research and dissemination of new information.
